BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure
Senior Software Developer · PIMS (contract)
Architectural lead, frontend and backend, for the province’s property-management replacement system — research, acquisition, leases, maintenance, disposal — with deep GIS integration, on a ~12-person multidisciplinary team.
feature delivery ~30% faster · LTSA + BC Assessment integrations · IaC on OpenShift
PIMS replaced the ministry’s legacy systems for provincial property management. I was the architectural lead across the stack.
- Modernized it — React frontend, API backend, and a finite-state-machine architecture driving the GIS map interface — which accelerated feature delivery by roughly 30%.
- Integrated the LTSA and BC Assessment data sources, Keycloak authentication, and a document-management microservice.
- Migrated deployments to infrastructure-as-code (Kustomize on OpenShift), with GitHub Actions CI/CD gating every pull request on automated tests.
- Established SME-driven requirements engagement and standardized delivery processes — complexity assessment, user stories, documentation — and mentored developers.
