The home cluster
A hand-built three-node cluster that ran the house for two years before Nexus’s first commit — the testbed that turned a conviction into a product spec.
3 nodes · 2 years of household use
Before there was an appliance there was a shelf: three machines, hand-built, running the household’s photos, documents and services for two years. It was where the ideas in the papers met a family that needed things to just work, and it was the origin of the rule that every Nexus decision has to pass — a non-technical administrator, a web UI, never a terminal.
Retired when Nexus moved into production in its place.
